Key City Roller Derby
Key City Roller Derby was Frederick, Maryland's first roller derby league. As such they needed everything, soup to nuts. I started with logo development. KCRD's founders not only wanted a logo to look good on uniforms, the web, and all the swag they imagined giving out, they wanted it to be meaningful.
Research into Frederick's rich past and its nickname, "Key City" revealed a treasure trove of inspiration, and logo ideas were pitched and iterated upon. The main, round logo includes a roped border inspired by the City's own seal. The background contains a black and gray version of the Maryland state flag. The key itself, displays the famous "clustered spires" visible from the hills. And finally, the red ribbon represents the "heart" the players took to the track.
When that was finished, we put it on everything!
